Introduction

The human ear is composed of multiple structures that aid in providing balance, spatial sensation, and hearing. The ear is an extension of the central nervous system. Cognition can be compromised when sound is not effectively transmitted. This chapter will address the structure and function of the ear, common ear disorders, and otic medications.
