OpenStax is proud to spotlight IAP Career College, also known as the International Association of Professions Career College, an online career college affiliated with FabJob Inc, the leading online publisher of guide books on how to get started in a dream career. They have served hundreds of thousands of “career changers” since 1999. IAP aims to offer the finest in affordable online certificate programs and democratize education for non-traditional learners who are passionate about their newfound career trajectories.
We had a chance to get to know Mr. Andrew Jenkins, CEO of IAP Career College who shared why IAP Career College supports and advocates for open education resources like the ones OpenStax provides.
IAP has embraced open education through providing affordable courses in non-traditional “dream” careers, which can be completed from the comfort of learners’ homes. To supplement and better enhance learning, they ensure students have access to a faculty member during their courses. These are core priorities for IAP and exactly why IAP and OpenStax resources make such a great fit.
OpenStax provides learners the flexibility to learn at their own pace; learning resources such as exercises, quizzes, and links to additional resources.— Mr. Andrew Jenkins, CEO of IAP Career College
IAP faculty have academic designations up to the Ph.D. level and have worked with students on six continents providing students with personalized teaching assistance that can help them excel in their courses and better succeed in their professional lives. Faculty members have “real world” experience to ensure they can provide the practical information students need to achieve career success. In addition to IAP’s faculty, Andrew made sure to shout out their Editorial and Instructional Design teams. “They are academics (and are amazing humans) who are passionate about education and dedicated to ensuring student access to learning in numerous forms.”
Mr. Jenkins and IAP are just as enthusiastic about their community as OpenStax is. The beauty of open education is that advocates are passionate about increasing access in order to reach every single person who wishes to learn more, advance their careers, and better support their families and their communities. “We are so excited about the growing catalog and the addition of new content that OpenStax is providing—especially in much needed STEM subjects.” Access to education has the potential to change lives and this means more courses, titles, and tools for all learners, everywhere.
Mr. Jenkins and IAP emphasized their love of the access OpenStax provides for its learners and its education partners. “Not only is the access unparalleled, but the quality of content and the topics covered in the OpenStax catalog are outstanding.”
